About
Mountain guides on Kebnekaise.
Nordtopp Guides takes small groups to the top of Sweden’s highest mountain. We guide the two classic routes from Kebnekaise mountain station, teach glacier and ice-axe skills, and lead private trips in Swedish Lapland.

How we guide
Four rules we keep on every trip.
Small groups
At most eight guests per guide on the Western route and six on the Eastern route and the course. Private groups are four at most.
The weather decides
We choose the start time and the turn-around time from the forecast, and we keep to them. The summit will still be there next year.
One pace for the group
We walk at the speed of the slowest person, with a short stop every hour to eat, drink and look around.
Leave it as we found it
We stay on the paths, carry everything back down, and keep groups small so the mountain stays quiet.
The guides
Four people, all summer on the mountain.
You meet your guide the evening before your climb, for the plan, the forecast and a kit check.
-
Astrid Lind
Lead guide
Astrid plans every summit day around the weather window and makes the call on the mountain. She leads most Western route days in July.
-
Johan Nyberg
Guide
Johan leads the Eastern route days and the private groups who choose the steeper way up. Calm, patient, and always first to check a buckle.
-
Maja Berg
Guide
Maja runs the glacier and ice-axe course. She teaches crampon work and rope skills step by step, at the group’s own speed.
-
Erik Kallio
Guide
Erik leads Western route days in August and longer private trips. He likes an early start and an even pace.
The mountain on our home page
Real elevation data, drawn in 3D.
The 3D view of Kebnekaise is built from the Copernicus DEM GLO-30: one height every 25 m over an area of 11.35 by 12.8 km. The two routes are traced from OpenStreetMap. Every distance, climb and height on this site is worked out from that data.
- Heights shown 1.5 times taller than they are, so the shape of the massif reads from a distance. All numbers use the real heights.
- Lowest point 529 m, highest 2,084 m in this area of the elevation data.
- At the very edge the model sinks into the haze, so there is no cut-off wall. The mountain and the routes are shown as measured.
